Identify Students Who Will Benefit from Intervention

i-Ready data pairs seamlessly with Phonics for Reading to identify the students who will benefit from intensive phonics intervention. You can also use whatever screener you have available to identify students who have this need.

First, students take the i-Ready Diagnostic for Reading. Data from the Diagnostic will identify students in Grades 3–12 who are below grade level in Phonics. Then, administer the Placement Test (shown on the next page) for more granular insight into these students' learning needs.

Administer the Placement Test

Before implementing the intervention, use this fast-paced Placement Test (embedded in the Teacher's Guide) to understand each student's individual decoding skills. This test can be used to identify students’ specific instructional needs and to group students so they start at the level and lesson from which they will experience the most growth.
